What is raw honey?

Raw honey is honey in its purest form – unprocessed, unheated and extracted straight from the hive. Unlike commercial honey, it hasn’t been pasteurised or stripped of its nutrients. That means it retains the natural enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins, and beneficial compounds that make honey so powerful.
It’s the kind of honey that comes straight from the hive to the jar, making it rich in flavour and high in nutritional value.

Why choose raw honey?

Choosing raw honey means you’re opting for a product that’s closer to nature. It can support your immune system, soothe throats and help aid digestion. You’ll also notice the taste difference – raw honey tends to have deeper, more complex flavours compared to the ultra-sweet, over-processed supermarket varieties.

How is raw honey different from Manuka honey?

All Manuka honey is raw, but not all raw honey is Manuka honey. The main difference is in the plant source and the unique compounds it produces. Manuka honey comes specifically from the nectar of leptospermum plants and contains high levels of MGO (Methylglyoxal), giving it potent antibacterial properties.
Raw honey, on the other hand, refers to how the honey is processed – or more accurately, how it’s not processed. It can come from a variety of floral sources and retains all its natural nutrients, enzymes, and flavours without the need for heat or filtration.
