Manuka Honey UMF 10+

UMF 10+ Manuka Honey is the step up from your everyday Manuka. It's a certified, mid strength honey and has more than three times the MGO of a UMF 5+ jar and a fuller, richer flavour to match.

This is the grade for people who take their Manuka by the spoonful rather than baking with it.

What Does UMF 10+ Mean?

A UMF 10+ rating means the honey has been tested and contains at least 263mg/kg of methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is the naturally occurring compound that sets Manuka apart from other honeys. The UMF system also checks for leptosperin, a marker that comes from manuka nectar, to confirm the honey is the real thing. So when you see UMF 10+ on one jar and MGO 263+ on another, you’re looking at the same grade described in two slightly different ways.

UMF 10+ or UMF 5+: Is It Worth Stepping Up?

It comes down to how you use it.

  • Stick with UMF 5+ if manuka mostly goes into tea, toast and cooking, where it’s mixed with other flavours.
  • Choose UMF 10+ if you eat it straight off the spoon, want a more robust manuka flavour, or prefer a higher-MGO honey as your everyday jar.

UMF 10+ sits in the middle of the range. It’s a clear step above table-grade manuka, without the price of UMF 15+ and UMF 20+.

How to Enjoy UMF 10+ Manuka

  • A teaspoon on its own, morning or night
  • Stirred into warm water with lemon
  • Drizzled over yoghurt, fruit or a cheese board, where the flavour can stand out

The 500g and 1kg jars suit households where Manuka is used daily.
