Manuka Honey UMF 20+

How High Should You Go? UMF 20+, 22+ or 25+

Every step up brings a higher minimum MGO content, a stronger flavour and a higher price.

• UMF 20+ (MGO 829+) is the entry to the top tier. It’s the grade most people choose when they want maximum-strength manuka at the lower end of this range’s pricing.
• UMF 22+ is a further step up in MGO. It’s available from Rare New Zealand and Manuka Doctor.
• UMF 25+ is the highest grade in our range, for those looking for the strongest Manuka possible.

Bee Power MGO 830+ sits level with UMF 20+. It’s the direct match if you compare jars by MGO number.

Why High-Grade Manuka Costs More

MGO forms naturally from a compound in manuka nectar, and levels vary from harvest to harvest. Honey that tests at UMF 20+ or above makes up a smaller share of the manuka harvest. That’s why these grades sit at the top of the price range and are usually sold in 250g jars rather than bulk sizes.

Getting the Most From a High-Grade Jar

• Eat it by the spoon. Most people take a small amount on its own rather than cooking with it, so none of the flavour is lost.
• Store it in the pantry. Keep the lid sealed and the jar out of direct sunlight. There’s no need to refrigerate it, and the cold can speed up crystallisation.
• Don’t worry if it thickens. Honey naturally crystallises over time, and it doesn’t affect the quality.
